Over the past 2 years, I have been working as a Clinical Negligence Paralegal at two separate firms- Jefferies Solicitors and Ralli Solicitors (3 if you include my fleeting time at Express Solicitors following the Jefferies acquisition!) where I have had the privilege of supporting many claimants throughout their claims against private clinicians, the NHS or prison healthcare providers. I have the opportunity to apply the knowledge I gained during my Law with Criminology degree, and learn the ins and outs of a negligence claim. Whilst completing my Law with Criminology degree, I maintained two part time jobs to diversify my work experience and maintain financial independence. My role at The Doctors Laboratory sparked my curiosity in healthcare services and potentially considering a future in clinical negligence. To fuel this interest, I voluntarily engaged in the Medical Law and Ethics module my university provides, despite not being enrolled on the course. Within university, I participated in multiple extracurricular projects and student positions. I was an active member of the Level-up Law Society and held the position of events planner on the committee, as well as participating in our internal mooting competitions. I was also the third year student representative for the LLB Law with Criminology course, in which I advocated for the needs of my peers and routinely liaised with teaching staff to ensure these needs are met. In addition to this, I participated in a joint project with the University of Salford, Sodexo and HMP Forest Bank which involved informing and educating the residents of HMP Forest Bank of their rights and responsibilities regarding housing and benefits during their stay and after their release. Since leaving the University of Salford, I have continued to maintain a positive, supportive relationship with the Level-up Law Society, by participating in various 'Industry Professional Panels' or providing insight into employability as a graduate.Aside from work (and being a doting mother to my darling cat Greywacke Jones), I have a variety of hobbies including multiple creative pursuits. I enjoy reading (heavy focus on classical or Russian literature), embroidery, knitting and crochet, journaling, writing to my pen-pals, and I am also a keen musician. Besides these, I have a myriad of lesser interests, my most recent is that I am attempting to learn how to read Latin so that I can read Metamorphoses in its original language, but I am always looking for new ways to occupy my free time!
