Since founding Fritz’s Cannabis Company in 2015, I've developed expert knowledge of and a profound passion for cannabis education. Combining this with my established skills in teaching, training, and curriculum development helped me teach and deliver cannabis education and training that is specific to each company’s needs.Level UP offers a comprehensive training program for budtenders. Every time I deploy the program, I work with each company’s overall strategy and focus to develop a specific curriculum that allows cannabis staff to meet customers where they’re at, provide them with accurate and helpful information, and help them purchase the right products. This creates a positive guest experience and ultimately drives sales, as customers feel more confident about purchases when budtenders and staff are empathetic, knowledgeable about cannabis and its effects, and well-informed about product selection.

Their separation and finishing methods have been adapted from generations of traditional Hashishin, with modern health and safety regulations applied to ensure only the highest quality, most desirable cannabis resin reaches the consumer.

Founded in the kitchen of my home in Toronto, Canada in 2015, Fritz’s began as a labour of love, turning shake into delicious edibles. My husband and I started by trading brownies for ingredients on a local Facebook group, gathering just enough to make our next batch. Every trade was a chance for feedback, allowing us to use cannabis consumer experiences to refine and perfect our products. We were fortunate to be part of the underground Toronto Green Markets from 2016-2019, showcasing local edibles and concentrate producers to allow consumers to access high quality cannabis products that weren’t otherwise available yet. These opportunities let us connect face-to-face with our customers, gaining an understanding of their questions, their lifestyles, and what it was that they really wanted in their products. When Canada legalized cannabis in 2018, we were excited about the opportunity to bring our edibles to the wider cannabis market. What we found was that most producers were turning to traditional consumer packaged goods to re-create things like gummies and chocolates, and often simply adding cannabis to an existing formulation, rather than developing tasty, effective, and thoughtfully-crafted cannabis products. In 2021, Fritz’s is bringing our years of developing perfect recipes and educating consumers to retailers across Canada.

mīhī is a Canadian cannabis retailer located in Ontario. As their Director of Cannabis Education, I used the principles of Curriculum Design to research, author, and deliver a comprehensive and proprietary electronic and in-person employee training program that covered cannabis knowledge, consultative sales, and regulation for mīhī's retail stores. During this process, I used Business Design principles to survey the current landscape of Canadian cannabis budtender education and knowledge to identify gaps in typical training and employee knowledge. In addition to the standard employee training program, I also authored supplementary training programs to address missing areas, and developed an ongoing employee career development and education program to improve employee loyalty and knowledge.For mīhī's public-facing education, I conducted deep market analysis to identify areas of interest and education for varying segments of Canadian cannabis consumers, and I developed and delivered educational workshops geared towards diverse groups of cannabis consumers & advocatesIn order to make sure we were delivering the best education to our budtenders and customers, I developed and managed relationships with account, sales, and education representatives from many Canadian LPs and distributors, working to better understand their companies, products, and offerings, as well as provide strategic recommendations for in-store and remote education, direct knowledge of various customer segments, and future product offerings.

The Green Tent is a women-led organization dedicated to achieving gender parity in leadership positions and on corporate boards in the Canadian Cannabis industry. To achieve this goal, we support women in the industry via popup activations at cannabis conventions and other events, corporate training and recruiting for the cannabis industry, and quarterly events and retreats for women in the industry.

The Capstone Course is designed to teach MBA students to apply model-based decision making to the types of vague and poorly articulated problems that are frequently encountered in business settings. We do this by providing them with live business problems from real companies; some of the companies I’ve worked with include Cineplex, Four Seasons, P&G, Cancer Care Ontario, and FirstService Residential Management. My role as Capstone Course manager allows me to establish and maintain relationships across diverse industries and sectors, as well as within the Rotman community, including with professors, faculty coaches, development staff, program services staff, and career center personnel. I also manage research assistants and student scholars and work with Rotman’s IT Services team to prepare and manage the secure server environment for the course. In addition, I get to develop and write case studies for each of our partner companies. This involves interviewing company personnel and officers, and reviewing and synthesizing many different internal documents for inclusion in the case packages. I also clean and anonymize internal and external data for student use during the course, as well as prepare detailed data guides for each case.

I'm an ardent believer in the value of continual personal growth and development, so when I learned about the work Rise does with entrepreneurs who have been vocationally derailed due to mental health or addiction challenges, I immediately wanted to get involved. Over the summer, as Rise prepared to expand to new cities across Ontario, I worked to find and address gaps in the mentorship experience by conducting one-on-one ethnographic interviews, assessing extant procedures and exploring best practices in the recruitment, training, engagement, and support of our mentors. I got to flex my creative muscles by designing and producing training modules for mentors, youth coaches, and program supporters, and I got to challenge myself intellectually by working to strengthen and structure both the mentorship and client experiences.

Starting my own business designing and creating one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry was an exciting decision that allowed me to explore and develop both my creative self and my business self. I made my own designs, worked closely with independent store owners, and started my own Etsy shop to market and sell my work. Loving what you do is easy when you're working for yourself and learning new things every day, like marketing, selling, photography, digital editing, tagging, SEO, pricing, branding, copywriting and advertising. After graduating from Rutgers University in 2005 with a degree in political science and no idea what to do with it, I began substitute teaching and found that I enjoyed it. Soon after, I found a job as a middle school teacher in a Title I school district. I liked the creativity inherent in planning lessons, and the challenge of crafting them for each individual student. By the time I achieved tenure there, at the end of my third year, I had begun to seek out other avenues for growth. I found several extracurricular committees of which to be a part, including the district’s professional development committee and the curriculum committee, but I sensed that I could do more, that I could move forward, taking on new challenges and learning new things: towards the end of my fifth year of teaching, I began making plans to get an MBA, my first step in pushing myself to do even bigger things.

During the years I worked in the fitness industry, I engaged a wide variety of clients in many different locales, ranging from small personal training facilities and large fitness chains to muddy football fields and sun-burnt running tracks. I conducted health and fitness evaluations, developed workout and nutritional plans, motivated clients to achieve their goals, and monitored their progress in the ways that were most effective for them. No matter with whom I was working, or what their fitness level was, my goal was always to make sure they were smarter about their own body, brain and spirit at the end of every session.
