About Tabitha Gerrets

I am not a specialist in anything, but know a little something about doing business in Africa, the SDGs, impact finance and IT. Enough not to make a fool of myself. I am passionate about fighting social injustice, helping social businesses digitize and thrive, breaking glass ceilings and mentoring young women and men to grow into their best self. Somehow I found myself leading and growing an SDG orientered tech company in East Africa. Never imagined how much fun that could be. For anyone in need of a hammer to break a glass ceiling, a bit of enthousiasm to support your crazy new idea, or a tech sparring buddy, I am your woman.

Listed skills include International Development, Sustainability, Corporate Communications, Strategy, and 14 others.

The (international) water sector is experiencing a chronic funding challenge that cannot be met by public funding alone. My main goal was to help mitigate that challenge by identifying and promoting innovative (blended) finance modalities for international water projects. By means of research, targeted lobby and consortium building, both finance institutions, insurers and pension funds were supported and stimulated to increase their investment in the water sector. Strategic partnerships were forged ao with FMO (the Dutch Development Bank) and ING. One such innovative financing modality that NWP helped set up was KIFFWA, a Kenyan water fund and co-developer of (drinking) water projects.
