Lead a collaborative team graduate students to develop an online training course designed to serve as a supplemental training tool for academic advisors during the onboarding process at IU. Created a balanced and meaningful course by intentionally aligning the desired advisor learning outcomes and training material to NACADA Core Competencies as well as researched advantageous practices in online training.

Advised over 400 incoming undergraduate students to first semester course planning and major selection and engaged in purposeful discussions help them identify interests, values, and academic skills to inform their decisions during the advising session. Taught students how to navigate academic resources and university systems for registration and course planning. Communicated accurate information to students about policies, procedures, and major and degree requirements. Evaluated over 100 transfer students' test scores and transfer credit to recommend appropriate courses and programs. Maintained accurate, detailed, and confidential records of orientation advising interactions in accordance with FERPA.

This experience helped me refine my ability to manage several complex project simultaneously, provide individualized support to students in various developmental stages, and further develop and define my leadership approach and skills. Within this role, I had the privilege of serving in three distinct capacities: as the Staff Advisor for our Outreach Team, the Assistant Instructor for our Research Experience for Undergraduate Women (REUW) program, and as the Lead Intern for the Graduate Women in Technology Alliance Team. In addition to these distinct functions, I also provided community engagement support for 40 Alliance Team interns as well as provide administrative support for large-scale events and conferences.

Managed, communicated with and provided on-site support for 240 Annual Conference education session presenters. Specific responsibilities included: - Coordinating with presenters to gather and upload presentations and contact information to our conference app- Utilizing Microsoft Access and Excel to manage schedule changes, organize presentations, and monitor presenter needs- Creating, distributing, analyzing and returning evaluation surveys for over 100 education sessions to the appropriate presenters

Advised incoming first-year students in the Purdue School of Science, IU School of Nursing and Kelley School of Business on which courses to enroll in considering their placement scores, individual preferences, and incoming credit. Communicated and provided physical resources about academic advising, campus resources, relevant degree maps, degree requirements and applicable scholarship requirements to students.

Coordinated the Peer Advisor (PA) program with 2 other Lead PAs and the support of the Assistant Director. Specific responsibilities included: - Developing monthly reports with qualitative and quantitative data that highlighted the impact of the PA program on achievement of the department’s goals and accessibility to students. - Leading weekly meetings to keep peer advisors up to date with policy changes, procedures, departmental updates and initiatives. - Assisting with the recruitment, review, interviewing, onboarding and daily supervision of peer advisors. - Providing low-level advising services on a drop-in basis to undergraduate, transfer and non-degree seeking students

Mentored 1 -2 first time academic probation or reinstated students per semester to support their academic success through weekly meetings wherein we exercise accountability setting weekly goals and reflecting on past weeks successes and obstacles. Established a purposeful relationship that builds onto their academic support network through open communication and sincere interest in their well-being. Refered mentees to utilize campus and community resources to support their academic and personal success by giving out the resources’ contact information, services provided, as well as hours and location.

Scheduled advising appointments, organized ACD student resources, and communicated updates and announcements to other peer support mentors and professional staff. Served as a liaison for the Office of Student Employment by teaching students general information about Federal Work-Study, how to access award amounts, understand authorization forms, and navigate work-study opportunities.

Mentored and developed trusting relationships with 25 first-year students to support them during their transition to college.

Welcomed over 3,800 students, along with their parents and guests, through one- and two-day orientation programs. Provided a peer perspective and answered questions from incoming STEM students about program requirements, research opportunities, and campus culture.

Collaborated with the STEM advising cluster to develop and implement specific outreach efforts directed at 1,200 University College STEM students. Managed, recorded and analyzed student data to evaluate and optimize outreach efforts. Coordinated and facilitated peer coaching sessions for 6 second-year students with little to no academic risk factors, known as the “Meaningful Middle”, that encouraged the students to become more self-sufficient, resourceful, and connected to their academic advisors.
