I worked for Government of Kiribati over 20 years first in rural water supply and later in urban water supply and sewerage system in Kiribati. I worked in a wide variety of projects for the GoK including water resources exploration techniques using geo-resistivity methods; interpretation of data to determine the depth of groundwater; engineering design of water and sewer reticulation systems; and conducting engineering economic and financial analysis of completed water and sewerage projects. I design and supervise the construction of Infiltration Gallery wells for Tarawa’s main fresh water supply. The Infiltration gallery are horizontal well designed to skim off freshwater from the top of the lens to avoid saltwater intrusion. The horizontal well is relevant to small coral island settings. My skills include proficiency in writing technical reports on water resources management, exploration and exploitations for Kiribati and presenting them at regional and international conferences; strong organization skills and translating engineering principles into practical solutions in an island situation. For the past 5 years I was exposed to power and sanitation sectors where I develop my skills in setting sustainable tariff for electricity, water and sewerage services in a combined utility. The sustainable tariffs can not be implemented in countries with poor economy such as Kiribati.I am now working in the private sectors and work with international consultants in the design and costing of water supply and sanitation systems in Kiribati. I also did some works in developing Asset Management Plans for water utilities and investment plan for water supply and sanitation as part of the South Tarawa Water and Sanitation Road-map 2010-2030. I am currently working on on-site sanitation designs relevant for Kiribati situation based on septic system and compost concepts.
Listed skills include Groundwater, Highways, Sewer, Infrastructure Management, and 33 others.
