We founded Filmfocus in 1999 with the goal to become the primary platform for Film information in the Dutch market. Basically what IMDB.com has become for the Western world. Filmfocus was funded by Business Angels on the (then revolutionary) vision that in a few years the public would watch movies over ip/internet. It turned out "We tend to overestimate the effect of a technology in the short run and underestimate the effect in the long run." (Roy Amara, Institue for the Future). So did we.The Dotcom crash (2000-2002) forced me to adjust the businessplan. Filmfocus became an online publisher with an advertising model coupled with a production studio. Filmfocus became profitable with 6 employees and grew into the leading movie website in The Netherlands. In January 2007 I sold the company to Chellomedia Programming BV, a subsidiary of Liberty Global inc. Filmfocus was quickly integrated in, and became the internet team of Film1, the leading Pay TV channel in the Netherlands, formerly known under the brandnames Filmnet and Canal+.In this role I learned too many things to mention them all. Strawberries is a full service web development company. It specializes in the development of e-commerce websites on the Hybris and Magento platforms. As managing partner I was responsible for strategy and sales. Operationally I was mostly occupied with the start of subsidiary Filmfocus. In this role I learned to be very flexible and adaptive to changing circumstances. I learned to start lucrative partnerships, but also how to end them in a favorable way for both parties involved.

Responsible for the selection, booking and scheduling of movie screenings. Learned about the movie industry and learned to navigate the politics in an association in order to win commitment on plans.
