After almost 13 years in the Navy JAG Corps, I am transitioning into a business litigation role at Gunster. I am thrilled to join the phenomenal team in the Jacksonville office!I spent nearly 13 years as an active duty officer in the Navy and will continue in the Navy Reserve. As the Deputy Fleet Judge Advocate at US Naval Forces Southern Command, I provided legal advice and guidance to senior Navy leaders on various matters, such as government regulations, criminal justice, labor and employment law, and ethics/risk. I also helped ensure successful operations in Central and South America through engagement with foreign authorities and negotiation of mutually agreeable terms that comply with treaties, customary international law, and US policy. Prior to that, I served in different roles and locations, including supervising Navy Victims' Counsel in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, leading a world-wide appellate legal team, and advising the installation commander at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. I started my Navy career working as a legal assistance attorney, prosecutor, and defense counsel at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. Before joining the Navy, I was a Presidential Management Fellow and Operations Supervisor at the Social Security Administration. I have a JD (2008) with a Certificate in International Trade and Finance from the University of Kansas School of Law and an LL.M. (2021) from Columbia Law School specializing in international law. I am licensed to practice law in Florida and Illinois.I value teamwork, respect, and integrity, and enjoy interacting with clients in order to help them solve difficult problems.
