About Taegan Lewis

I believe in a better, brighter, and kinder future for all and ensure to reflect this in every aspect of my life.Presently, I am engaged in several voluntary roles. My position on the Suicide Prevention Scotland Youth Advisory Group involves working to ensure young people are at the centre of Scotland's Creating Hope Together suicide prevention action plan. The YAG embeds voices of lived experience at every level of decision-making. We explore the work that is currently being undertaken in line with the plan in Scotland, and any future work, ensuring it best meets the needs of children and young people affected by suicide across Scotland. As an #iwill ambassador, I have had the honour of using this experience to support and inspire young people to undertake meaningful social action across the UK. I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity this has provided me to further develop my own voluntary and social action and network with inspirational young people creating real change in the world.Employing my lived experience, I previously worked to steer the National Leadership Network (Staf) and its development, including funding allocation and strategy formulation, implementation and review. My work here provided me the opportunity to create tangible change for Care-Experienced people across Scotland. My work extends beyond the above, to various projects and a variety of activism. I have a particular interest in using my lived experiences to shape a positive future for Care-Experienced young people, disabled people, those experiencing mental health challenges, and those at the intersection of marginality. If you share my passion for making a positive impact, I would always welcome the opportunity to connect, discuss and collaborate on how we can create meaningful change - together.
