Three months' internship in La Paz, Bolivia at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) in 2007: wrote a technical report on the energetic use of waste wood and saw dust. Determined the amounts and the calorific value of this type of biomass, and quantified the possible power output and investment costs of a to be commissioned power plant. Final thesis project: studied the possibility of operating an organic Rankine cycle turbogenerator in island mode, i.e. not connected to the electricity grid. Implemented a dynamic model of an existing 150 kW ORC turbogenerator in the software Matlab/Simulink and ran simulations to assess whether such a power plant can be run in island mode.
