Quickly completed two amendment site submission studies within 2 weeks each. Entered and maintained trial status information relating to SIA activities onto PPD tracking databases in an accurate and timely manner.

Completed 135-hour internship over 4-week time period. I developed and studied various clinical research skills: regulatory maintenance, EDC data entry, query resolution, source documentation, venipuncture, taking vital signs, and providing informed consent. I conducted weekly patient calls for scheduled study follow ups. I also shadowed CRC and other research staff in patient visits, performing ECG procedures, and completing regulatory documents such as drug accountability logs and AE or ConMed entries.

At Bayer Crop Sciences, I coordinated daily activities with the plant establishment team and management. I also served as a subject matter expert on automated seed planting operation. The plant establishment team and I performed automated plant extraction and troubleshooting of up to 3000+ plants per week. My greatest experience at Bayer was overcoming the challenge of learning new skills after COVID-19 policies were implemented. In a matter of 3 to 4 months, two other team members and I learned how to operate nearly all plant establishment equipment, sometimes with minimal training. We also pushed for new training to ensure more efficient work-flow while still meeting all of our planting schedule deadlines.

My role at Roche Tissue Diagnostics (RTD) was to help support and guide the development of cancer diagnostic assays. On a daily basis I practiced 5S to maintain clean and well functioning work areas, as well as checked inventory and lab supplies. I also frequently operated and troubleshooted laboratory instruments. During various studies I analyzed data and images according to study requirements. This included inspecting stained slides to determine if the assay was successful. As a research associate I was responsible for giving feedback about ongoing research projects within my project team(s) and seeking ways to improve the development process. One aspect I enjoyed about working at RTD was the opportunity to suggest improvements across a department and the ability to collaborate with many talented individuals within the company. Project Highlights: - Material Compatibility: I helped analyze different materials used in various RTD instruments and their physical properties. We combined mechanical and dimensional testing to see if materials behaved differently from exposure to various chemicals over time. - Advanced Staining: I assisted two project teams in developing separate, complex ISH assays over a period of 5 months. In that time I helped them reach important project milestones. In addition, I captured high quality microscopic images used in a Roche assay interpretation guide in 20% of the expected time. - Operations: I served as a tissue sample coordinator, project coordinator, and subject matter expert over a period of 6 months. Many of these roles required immense professional development and commitment. My role involved networking with various research groups within RTD, coordinating meetings and pathology read sessions, medical scribing, and presenting new data and project updates to both my project team and other small groups. In addition, I took on a small leadership role by mentoring 2 new colleagues who joined the project team.

While at Heliae I served in a key role in developing plant testing platforms. I studied the effects of microalgae on plants and help evaluate products for further testing. My role involved using statistical analysis with JMP to evaluate product performance and analyze plant growth through imaging software. Previously I was assigned to studying plant growth in hydroponics and improving quality control of hydroponics system to ensure the healthy development of plants. This involved monitoring daily data for trends and analyzing where potential problems can arise. From there, possible causes could be narrowed down using problem solving methods. In addition, I was responsible for maintaining chemical stocks, making large volume solutions, and entering plant performance data into a shared company database.

My role was interdisciplinary. I performed QC testing on incoming customer or warehouse samples, including taking viscosities of solutions, mesh particle analysis, and inspecting moisture content. When not performing QC duties I assisted with new R&D projects and processed customer samples using accounting software. On average over 120 samples were processed every month. I monitored inventory levels frequently to ensure there was enough material for outgoing samples, as well as checked the status of QC testing for specific products. My work required me to be focused and very detail oriented at all times to ensure the accuracy of test results.

I worked with soybean embryos to perform transgenic plant transformation. The estimated success rate was 2% and I successfully cultivated 2 to 3 separate strains with the transgenic trait by the end of the semester project.
