I worked on observational and interventional HIV studies on the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) platform within the Division of Infection Diseases. My responsibilities included the coordination, collection, analysis, and reporting of data. I supported the Principal Investigator and other co-investigators in judging the validity of test data derived from research studies. In discharging my duties, I ensured strict compliance to Good Clinical Practices and regulations per the Northwestern University Institutional Review Board, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other relevant bodies.

Working seven 24- hour in- house shifts every other week, I performed initial assessment and management of patients with acute medical conditions, requesting sub- specialist consultations when appropriate. I provided in-patient care while working closely with the consultants (attending physicians) and other auxiliary medical services to enhance and optimize patient care.

I ran the Family Medicine clinic which catered to adult, pediatric and obstetric patients. In addition, I collected and analyzed data on patient medical records using MS Excel, then presented my results to the Medical Director as a QI project.

I served as the physician at this military outpost, where I ran the clinic that served military personnel and their families. Working closely with allied medical staff, I organized and presented monthly health seminars on common but important medical topics such as malaria, tuberculosis, and childhood diarrhea.

I took initiatives on patient care when senior members of the team were unavailable, communicating appropriately with them on such occasions. I tutored medical students on management of chronic and infectious disease conditions.
