Dr. Tak-Sing Wong is currently Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park. Dr. Wong was the Croucher Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at Wyss Institute at Harvard University from 2010 to 2012. Dr. Wong received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles in June 2009, following his B.Eng. degree specializing in robotics and manufacturing technologies from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2003. His current research interests include surface wetting phenomena, micro/nanomanufacturing, as well as bio-inspired technologies with applications in materials science, water, environmental sustainability, energy, and medicine. Dr. Wong is a cofounder, CTO, and director of spotLESS Materials Inc., which commercializes easy-clean and easy-to-apply liquid-repellent and anti-fouling coatings for a range of medical, sanitation, automotive, and industrial applications.For his research contributions, Dr. Wong has received awards and recognitions from the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), the National Science Foundation (NSF), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the National Geographic Society, and the Nano Research (Springer-Nature). In addition, Dr. Wong was named one of the world’s top 35 innovators under the age of 35 (Innovators Under 35) by the MIT Technology Review, as well as honored by the White House for the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). Dr. Wong received the 2024 Faculty Scholar Medal for Outstanding Achievement from the Penn State University. Dr. Wong has been listed as world's top 2% scientists across all fields of science and engineering since 2017 by Stanford University/Elsevier. Dr. Wong is an elected Fellow of ASME and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
