I am passionate about using my epidemiological and geospatial skills to equitably and sustainably improve quality of life for humans and their environments through data analysis and data science.At my most recent job as a Transportation Analyst I executed such systemic analyses using my knowledge of research-based projects, Python scripting, geospatial technologies, an understanding of R, and project management. I have learned to scope a research project, to hypothesize about what aspects of the world are interwoven, how to find those connections, to be equitable and inclusive by representing historically overlooked communities and cultures in the data I utilize, and to highlight the important pieces of an analysis. During my time at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), I have learned how to begin to study and understand the dynamics of communicable and non-communicable diseases, structure and execute statistical models, convey research methods and conclusions, and build an epidemiological research project from conception of the idea, to funding, to analysis, and project summary and writing. My experience to date has allowed me to integrate geospatial and health related experiences into my work, hone my analytic skills, and learn to be a collaborative and productive member of a highly sought-after team.My career up to this point has been focused on general spatial data analysis methodologies and transportation safety. With my education from LSHTM, I have joined my background in geography, an amalgamation of so many fields and subjects, with health and epidemiology, the epitomes of fields that are all encompassing, and affecting and affected by everything. This is, I believe, where I can use my skills to have the most impact. I want to research, ask and answer questions, and solve problems about health-related outcomes that are inclusive to all communities, cultures, and diversities.
