Inspired by the Hijazi Rochan, the Arabian oriel and the most prominent feature of Jeddah’s architectural heritage, I strive to maintain the authenticity of our culture through design and engineering. After traveling the world in pursuit of international education and cross-cultural experiences, I returned home to join King Abdulaziz University, where I helped to establish the School of Environmental Design. I witnessed the rebirth of the Saudi art movement and made it my mission to lead the way in incorporating of art and culture into our daily lives.I founded Rochan Fine Arts, the Kingdom's first of its kind, as part of the art movement, bringing together local and international artists. The company’s goal was to change people’s mindsets by elevating art as a concept. Aside from that, it was instrumental in ushering the Kingdom into a new era of arts and culture by accomplishing a number of large-scale art curation projects on a national scale, including the Kingdom's first airport in Riyadh. Rochan Fine Arts keeps a large collection of national and international Islamic art, laying the groundwork for the first Saudi Museum of Islamic Art.In addition, I founded several companies both locally and abroad, including my architectural firm Talal Kurdi Consultants, and ventured into a variety of business areas through Rochan Arabia Holding. Rochan Holding continues to provide guidance to its subsidiaries, as well as the necessary support for them to grow and develop on their own. Throughout this fruitful journey, I have collaborated with many prestigious companies and worked on large-scale projects in a variety of industries.I have taken part in the Kingdom’s aesthetic transformation by working on the establishment and development of major landmarks, where I contributed to the construction of two of its terminals and curated the artwork, resulting in a unique blend of heritage and modernization while preserving our culture.As a pioneer and advocate of art and culture, I believe being surrounded by beauty makes people become happier, and as a businessman, I believe that there is always room for creation, innovation, and growth.

Rochan Fine Arts was chosen to curate artwork for governmental authorities, facilities, hospitals, and hospitality buildings, including Saudi Arabia's first airport, in collaboration with external art consultants such as Yamasaki, art historians such as Wayne Andersen, and Saudi, regional, and international artists. Our primary goal was to facelift the cultural façade by introducing beauty and aesthetics while preserving our identity. As a result, I've been hired as an art consultant by several government agencies as well as public and private foundations. I was also named chairman of the Ministry of Defense's art committee.

I have taken conceptual risks by combining my love of art with my expertise in specialized urban design in tropical and subtropical environments, resulting in bold creations, monumental landmarks, and works of art. I have worked on numerous projects for both government agencies and privately held companies. I am honored to have contributed to the beautification of Jeddah, my hometown and source of inspiration.While reflecting culture in design, I have demonstrated versatility in designing commercial and residential structures of varying styles and purposes, as well as a track record of sound sustainable design that meets regulatory standards. For over four decades, I have worked tirelessly to create perfectly tailored plans for each client's unique technical and financial requirements, as well as ideal frameworks and structures.

FounderFann Magazine Jan 1981 - Jun 1988In order to further promote my interest in art and culture, I founded Fann magazine, which has its headquarters in London. Fann was the first Arab art magazine, with the goal of increasing appreciation for finer aspects of life by assisting people in finding art and beauty in the smallest of details, as well as improving the quality of life through aesthetically pleasing elements. Running for many years and being widely distributed in the Middle East, I was able to promote art awareness and contribute to the creation of a refined culture.
