I'm a fourth-year student at McMaster University studying Earth and Environmental Science. I'm also pursuing an interdisciplinary minor in sustainability, and two certificates in Urban Studies and GIS. From my work and studies, I've developed a diverse range of skills and knowledge in data analysis, geographic information systems, urban development issues, food/water insecurity, environmental assessment, field work, and sustainability. I'm currently seeking spring/summer experiential opportunities in with community-building and urban planning. Growing up, I became passionate about the need to develop sustainable, walkable, and livable cities that foster relationships between people and the natural environment. In my neighbourhood, I saw how the community food center brought people together not only for free meals, but for building lasting connections. I had the privilege the work closely with my community center as both an intern and volunteer. During that time, I helped provide nourishing meals made from fresh ingredients, develop community engagement programs, and maintain the local community food garden. These opportunities gave me experience handling food access and food justice, community revitalization, and social ecology. It motivated me to pursue further studies in community development with a focus on sustainability.
