My professional goals are to conduct research and provide education and training as a tenured track faculty at an institution of higher education. I have an extensive experience in providing therapeutic services to multiple populations and supervision to counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrists in training. I am especially interested in continuing to examine the intersections of multiple identities and their impact on psychology/psychotherapy from a focus on social justice.Specialties: My primary research interests focus on identifying risk factors associated with substance abuse and strategies for improving treatment outcomes. This focus is broad and anchored in multicultural, ecological, and developmental factors that impact susceptibility to substance use/abuse and utilization of services to assist recovery. It includes the identification of significant cultural factors that interact with the specific intervention/treatment approaches to shape ultimate outcomes.
