As a voluntary student mentor at Manchester Metropolitan University, I have the opportunity to guide and support fellow students through their academic and personal challenges. This role involves providing encouragement, sharing experiences, and offering guidance to help mentees navigate the university experience successfully. Mentors serve as role models, advocates, and sources of inspiration, fostering a supportive and inclusive community within the university.

Teaching, Planning, and Assisting alongside my tutors and fellow mentors within Business Technology. This course covers the various fields of business and technology as it is a joint course, and the role includes different tasks that are a part of both fields such as planning projects, running Drop-in sessions for students of the same course in lower levels, assisting tutors with their duties within the classroom, and representing the university outside of the campus.

Data Science Internship. This job role allowed me to work on numerous data science tasks and pick up new skills within the field.

Working at Pepe’s Piri Piri taught me how to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. The time I spent there really showed me what it is like to be working in a dependent workplace, and this is through the fact that if any part of the workplace starts to slow down or get overloaded; it will in turn affect the workplace as a whole. This is why having a good relationship, supporting fellow staff, and being coordinated with other staff is particularly important to a workplace and its employees, as it lessens the burden on all workers and leads to a work environment being healthy and synchronized, moreover it will lead to business being much smoother. I know this because during my time there I had a good relationship with my boss and the other employees I worked with, and all of the factors labeled above really led to the environment of the restaurant is much smoother, and it lessened the burden of the intense pressure of the fast-paced environment.As the FOH and till staff my responsibilities included:• Working the Till and taking customer orders• Taking and dealing with orders over the phone • Taking and dealing with Orders from apps• Managing all customer issues and inquiries • Being able to deal with difficult customers• Interacting with customers while serving them• Providing service with a smile• Being able to support other staff when short-handed• Taking on more responsibilities than required to avoid any problems• Often taking on BOH responsibilities e.g., making side dishes and packing orders• Training inexperienced staff to work FOH and till• Cleaning the restaurant after my shift• Restocking any missing items needed at the till e.g., Drinks, condiments, and other essentials• Being able to work well in an extremely fast-paced environment
