The 104th Fighter Wing is a branch of the U.S. Air National Guard. Throughout my time spent as an intern in the Public Affairs office I was able to see into the world on a National Guard Base as well as use my skills I have obtained from my teachings at Westfield State. I have been able to work on improving skills that I did not focus on during my Communication studies in class. I wrote an article that was published for the base-wide newsletter. I had a lot of practice with photography, in the PA office I was in charge of taking photos for military passports as well as official portraits, I was also able to photograph base events throughout my time at the 104th Fighter Wing, all of which became a small photography portfolio. I got hands-on experience with IT to update and set up computers within my office. My office uses Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Bridge so I get experience using both of those platforms to edit and process images. This internship allowed me to apply my current knowledge as well as learn a lot of new information and skills as well. This was a very unique internship opportunity which gave me new insight as to how many different paths I can take with my communication degree.

My time spent working at Dunkin' Donuts, allowed me to see corporate business from many different stand points. I got to know the company very well from an inside perspective as well as a consumer. I held a close relationship with my managers and was able to get a close look at what it is like to input inventory orders as well as keeping books and records. I worked as a Shift Leader and carried out tasks such as counting money in drawers at the end of the day, making sure that all chores and tasks were completed within a shift, training new members to the team, as well as assigning my co-workers their positions for the day. During each shift I was expected to be flexible throughout my shift to adjust to any pace of the day. I had to have each item we sold memorized as well as how to correctly make it, including new and promotional products. I operated the POS system, handled money, and constantly greeted and served customers. I was responsible to stock all of our supplies so that the shifts throughout the day would have enough stocked on the floor to succeed with ease. I also kept up with the upkeep of the work floor such as cleaning machines, surfaces, and checking expiration dates of products. I also was responsible for promoting new products, drinks or food, upselling, as well as encouraging guests to get the Dunkin exclusive app. My time at this company allowed me to master multitasking efficiently and working under pressure and has allowed me to demonstrate my leadership skills in a work environment.
