About Talia Hanley

I am a junior at Harvard College from Austin, Texas pursuing a concentration in Economics (Honors) with a possible Computer Science secondary. I am interested in business/finance/investing, behavioral economics, and the performing arts. I am one of five Senior Associates on the Smart Women Securities Investment Team, spearheading our Media/Communications group that is currently working on a stock pitch for the $40,000 L/S equity fund the Investment Team oversees. I am the Assistant Financial Manager and a Soprano I/II for the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum, a 54-person mixed undergraduate/graduate choral group. In Spring 2023, we travelled to New York in April to perform at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and then embarked on our two-week Sweden International Tour in Summer 2023, learning and performing Swedish folk music under the guidance of Swedish folk a cappella group Kongero. Outside of campus, I am part of the Loomis Sayles UWIN Mentorship Program, gaining invaluable guidance from my mentor about navigating my career as a woman in finance. I am a Girls Who Invest 2023 Online Intensive Scholar, and continue to find ways to give back to this program that is truly driving the charge for helping women break into investing and asset management careers. My passion for public speaking, communication, and economics has also led to my involvement as a Speakers Team Associate with the Harvard Undergraduate Economics Association. Through my education, internships, and extracurricular involvement, I have learned about the world of finance, business, investing, economics, and marketing and hope to continue building on these skills. I am a quick learner with strong communication skills who enjoys working in a collaborative environment. Aside from my academic aspirations, I love woodworking/woodburning, singing, poker, negotiation, public speaking, hiking, and discovering great food!
