Boldan (arabic for locales) is a young initiative that aims to explore and document earthen architectural heritage through building with the people with resources and techniques that originate from the place.Boldan conducts hands-on workshops, talks, as well as provides architectural design and renovation servies using earthen materials. Among its latest products is the Earth Plastering service widely seen as competitor to cement-based plasters in the construction industry.

The Engineering Department at EPASP is a planning, research, design and construction unit acting as the owner representative to the MOE. The unit’s expertise is invested in a socially responsible and environmentally friendly approach to improving visitors’ facilities and infrastructure in PAs of Egypt. Its interventions vary to include the upgrading of entrance gates, trails, campsites, sheds, benches, directional signage and informational panels.Among the unit’s responsibilities is the planning and initiation of projects, starting from conducting baseline studies, environmental impact and needs assessment informing the scope of the project’s intervention. These studies are rooted in research of international guidelines and best practices, and result in the drafting of terms of reference for the projects proposed. Having been announced for tender, the unit then offers technical advice to PA management leading to the selection of contracting firms responsible for implementation. The unit ultimately manages, coordinates and supervises the entire timeline of the project till completion and handover.EPASP project is a collaboration between UNDP and the Ministry of Environment.

Responsibilities/ Manage a design team of 3-4 architects throughout phases of concept to construction documents; Supervise on-site execution of construction activities till ready for operation; Set up a system for finance, human resources and standard operational procedures; Outline project scope, schedule, fees and deliverables in client negotiations.Projects/ Design of 35000 sqm residential complex (Marsa Alam); Design of 50,000 sqm hospitality and real estate development (Marsa Alam); Architectural branding and design of 350 sqm sales stores (Mansoura & Alexandria).

- Tutoring final year architecture students on their thesis projects with Professors Aly El-Faramawy and Sawsan Helmy. Thesis topics touched upon infrastructural landscapes, in-between/residual spaces and the concept of the non-place.

- Mapping, research and documentation for the 'Mobilization of the Dahshur World Heritage Site for Community Development' project (UNESCO/UNDP/SCA);- Data collection and analysis for the 'Giza Pyramids Plateau' planning project (SCA)

- Architect of the project for the development of an authentic architectural character for Bedouin settlements in Sinai (EU/SSRDP)- Develop design and build a centre for building crafts (CBC) and an ecolodge (Mt. Sinai); - Investigate Bedouin dwelling norms and typologies; - Offer, design and document technical assistance to local community; - Coordinate participatory decision-making, and supervise their implementation;- Assist in the production of an appropriate building guideline manual for St Catherine
