I've had the pleasure to work on a number of exciting projects in my life. I've worked on instrumentation and control systems for nuclear plants, I've been in charge of billion-dollar oil and gas projects, and I've taught at a postgraduate level. But all of that pales in comparison to what I'm working on now.I've solved one of the most important problems in the control industry to date. A problem that is currently costing process plants millions every year in energy and material wastage, and manufacturers millions in lost sales. A problem that is destroying our planet. That problem is inefficient control. Alongside with my team at Xiera, we've created edeX, a complete, interactive development environment for modeling, designing, auto-tuning, and testing fuzzy logic controllers (FLCs) and PIDs. It can tune multivariable, highly interactive systems, without the need for AI expertise. What this means is that a control engineer with standard designer knowledge can now:1) Tune a fuzzy logic controller as easily as a PID.2) Solve for difficult systems. What are the consequences of this?More optimized control. This means:1) Embedded systems integrators and manufacturers can create products that work better, emit up to 35% less pollution and are up to 35% more energy efficient. 2) Process plants using our solution will suffer up to 35% less material rejects, become up to 35% more energy efficient, and cut down pollution by up to 35%.3) Control engineers can upgrade their skillset by applying artificial intelligence to solve simple and complex & multivariable interactive control problems. If you are interested in making the world a greener place, feel free to connect with me.

Vice President And Director Of TechnologiesMentalogic Systems, Inc. 1991 - 1997Toronto, Ontario, CanadaDeveloped the following high-tech products:• SimFuzz simulation software for intelligent system design and analysis. It includes a complete software simulator and a fuzzy toolkit together with automated systems for knowledge-base elicitation and optimization of intelligent system. • Rule Generator: Rule generation system (KBGEN) employing Boxes algorithm, fuzzy logic and machine learning methodologies in which Boxes algorithm was extended from on-off to multiple-stage capability, and time is considered as a fuzzy variable. KBGEN is suitable for single-input single-output and multivariable fuzzy controller application.• Fuzzy Tuner: tuning system (FTUN). The system uses fuzzy logic tuner and Hill climbing technique. FTUN is suitable for single-input single-output and multivariable fuzzy controller application• Large System Modeling: modeling method based on the Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH) that was developed by Ivakhnenko. This method was extended to include multiple inputs and intelligent model structure selection. The method also filters out irrelevant input signals and bases its decision on a forward regression orthogonal estimator.Other duties:• Performed design and implementation work.• Performed necessary technical and onsite client’s support.• Managed projects and led the technical development team of professionals.• Trained other professionals on the technologies and design concepts of knowledge-based systems and data modeling.• Provided consulting services regarding a wide array of I.T. strategies and issues.• Interacted with the strategic marketing and lead the industrial application group of the company. • Organized workshops on I.T. and intelligent systems.• Attracted funding in excess of $400,000 from the National Research Council (NRC), Ministry of Energy, OntarioJob Funding program by Ontario Government as well as other industrial funding resources.Systems included proprietary technologies. -
Research AssociateCarleton University 1987 - 1991Ottawa, Ontario, Canada• Research on the application of neural network for knowledge compression and finger print recognition. Application of adaptive control and identification for robots. Development of fuzzy logic control and fuzzy logic information processing.• Taught artificial intelligence, software system design, robotics, digital systems and linear system theory. -
Associate ProfessorStevens Institute Of Technology 1982 - 1987I taught here as part of the International Program for the Algerian Institute of Petroleum.• Taught process control, instrumentation, industrial boilers, control panel design, monitoring system design, computer application in industrial control, human-machine interface and program development. • Designed and built three real-life laboratory process simulators for research and study purposes. • Refurbished the Institute boiler house. Forty students were involved for one year. This was a major project that was undertaken with help from the nearby Batioua refinery.• Revised the curriculum of the Algerian Institute of Petroleum and introduced 3 new subjects to it: Design of Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), Digital Systems and Safety Standards in industrial plants. In recognition of my contribution, the institute promoted me to Professeur Agréger. -
