Ivan Talijančić (he/him) is an international time-based artist, educator and cultural producer working at the intersection of performance, theater, dance, film, video, installation/visual art, new media, fashion, fundraising/development, curatorship, journalism and education.He is the artistic co-director of the New York based multidisciplinary art group WaxFactory, where his directing credits include BLIND.NESS, …SHE SAID, QUARTET v4.0, X, and LADYFROMTHESEA, a site-specific installation/performance staged at the Old American Can Factory in Brooklyn (“most inovative production of the year”, 2001 Worldwide Critics Survey.) Ivan is an alumnus of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, and a Usual Suspect at the New York Theatre Workshop. His work has been presented at numerous international venues and festivals such as the ICA/Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), Centre Pompidou (Paris), Gulbenkian Museum (Lisbon), Lincoln Center (New York,) SommerSzene (Salzburg, Austria), Zürcher Theater Spektakel (Zurich, Switzerland), FIT/Festival Internacional de Teatro (Caracas, Venezuela), and Adelaide Festival (Australia,) among others.As an educator, Ivan taught in the US institutions including New York University, Columbia University / Barnard College, Carnegie Mellon University, Princeton University, Brown University, and internationally at Università Ca’ Foscari (Venice, Italy) and Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (Stuttgart, Germany,) among others. He is an alumnus of residential fellowships at Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart, Germany,) Bogliasco Foundation (Genova, Italy), Hermitage Artist Retreat (Florida, USA) and Emily Harvey Foundation (Venice, Italy,) and the founding director of Contemporary Performance Practices, a summer intensive training program taking place annually in Croatia.Ivan frequently serves as an expert panelist for funding bodies in the US such as the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, etc, and contributes as an arts writer to many publications (BOMB Magazine, Brooklyn Rail, HowlRound.)Ivan is currently head of Collaborative Theatre Making MA/MFA program at the Rose Bruford College in London, UK.
