Engineering Project Engineer/Responsible Engineer working on the SEP3 (Silo Emptying Plant) mobile cave for Ansaldo’s customer (Sellafield Ltd) – reporting to the Head of Engineering.While retaining my Responsible Engineer role on some of the systems listed previously, I now also provide a Project Engineering service to Ansaldo to co-ordinate the Engineering activities (across the Mechanical, CE&I and Analysis teams) and ensure delivery of the technical project objectives in an efficient and effective manner. I am responsible for definition and maintenance of the system level Engineering plans such that both the Engineering budget is controlled and schedule deliveries are reported and monitored. Main functions are to provide both the engineering design delivery and engineering project delivery of various sub-systems to ‘ready for manufacture’ release. These sub-systems are the FSD Maintenance Crane, the tunnel & retrieval housing structure, all access platform structures, the posting port and the commissioning & installation equipment. Included within the above are responsibility for workload management for a team of 13 Design and Lead engineers, final design delivery to the client (management of the design through Design gates DR3 to DR5), team objective setting and delivery of Statements of Work & project schedules to the client.

Lead Principle Design Engineer responsible for various design requirements related to DDC’s JLG projects. Seconded to JLG at their Bruntingthorpe site working on the ‘Forward’ NPI programme. Main function was as a Senior Team Lead Engineer for the Integration team (lead design of all integrated routed systems; namely hydraulic, A/C, fuel, cooling etc.). Main duties were lead design control of the concept to pilot (through and inclusive of the prototype build phase) design for the majority of the routed systems, resource management and workload allocation for the team, control of main structure BoM’s and synthetic BoM’s, compliancy reporting for DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) and co-ordination of related effort and requirement for pre-prototype mule and buck activities for the team.

Presently seconded to JLG at their Bruntingthorpe site working on the Roadrunner platform boom structuresMain duties include concept design of Hydrostatic axle and gearbox system to expand the present production product range (Lincoln) and concept design of frame and chassis layouts for new product range (Xenon), including an assessment package to allow a ‘mule’ platform to be built and functionally tested.. Other duties/tasks that were undertaken were primarily based around completion of modifications and upgrades to other JLG present production platforms. These include working on systems for Tier 4 engine installations, hydraulic fan valve installations and hydraulic hose routing systems

After working for NP Aerospace for the last two years on the Ridgback project, I have been appointed the Design Manager for Site 3. NP Aerospace design and provide armoured vehicle solutions to the UK MoD.

I have worked for NP Aerospace for the past 20 months as the Senior Lead Engineer on the Ridgback project. Ridgback is an armoured vehicle solution for the UK MoD. I have been involved with the project from engineering inception/concept design to completed delivery.

Product improvement of various component systems for Terex Pegson XA400/XR400 rock crushing mobile platform. Initial concept design of various mechanical systems (mainly conveying systems) for Terex Pegson for both Jaw and Cone plants next generation rock crushing equipment (based on cost/technical opportunities realised during product improvement of present model).

Design of containment handling systems for the pharmaceutical process industry. Primarily design/designed discharge stations based on GEA’s bespoke Buck Valve containment system.

Value engineering/cost-down design of vertical packaging machines (concept and detailed design of component systems for production trials) for food packaging industry. Joined the project towards the middle of the early concept design phase, subsequently completed both the design and pre-production phases on the mechanisms that I was assigned.

Contracted to Hydraulic Design Department. Primarily involved in the design of new hydraulic systems (from concept to pre-production stage) for mobile machinery (Compact Wheel Loader). Majority of the contract was spent working on the new generation Compact Wheel Loaders (906/908).
