About Paul Leoni, Pmp
“The totality is not, as it were, a mere heap, but the whole is something besides the parts.” — Aristotle This quote has always appealed to me because it points to the power of synergy. When we work together synergistically, we are not just getting the combined products of our labor; we are creating solutions that can only flow from the combination of our skills, passions, wisdom, and creativity. Project Management is where this process comes alive! I am a problem solver at heart. I get satisfaction in moving from concept to paper to reality. To me, it’s like a puzzle, and when we all collaborate, there is this sense of “coming together” that makes very different puzzle pieces fit together in ways you couldn’t anticipate. I was first fascinated by the concept of synergy when I ran my language interpreting business: You have to not only have the “right” people but also have them doing what they are best at. As I increasingly turned my attention to directing and managing project work, I realized just how much I loved the process, and how much the work is right for me. I had the opportunity to spearhead groundbreaking initiatives for the New Jersey Superior Court, primarily involving technology and streamlining workflow. Success in these large-scale projects piqued my curiosity about the theories, methods, and discipline that consistently drive successful projects forward, and in 2020 I set out to obtain my PMP certification. My preparation to become a certified Project Management Professional gave me the technical foundation to complement my leadership experience and strategic business management acumen. Having sharpened my skills, I undertook a new challenge as an IT Project Manager for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. The statewide project, impacting 1M stakeholders, has given me the opportunity to effectively implement solutions using the software development lifecycle and make a big positive difference for anglers across the commonwealth. I look forward to continue meeting challenges, solving problems, and managing teams to create unimaginable results.
