I was brought on to revamp the organization due to lack of performance. I built a new board and we began working on a turn around. Unfortunately, the funding for the board was reallocated by Longmont Economic Development Partnership so the board was dissolved.

I ran for an At Large City Council seat in Longmont, CO; we did not win. However, over the course of the campaign I learned a lot about politics and branding oneself. After the loss (finished 4th of 6, 2 seats were available) I went back into business and consulting.

I was asked to restructure the startup and to find a use for a patented manufacturing technology. The technology allowed for the etching of graphene components at the scale of 2 nanometers. I first set out to commercialize the tech. However, after a year of trying to find a use case I determined, the tech was still a decade out from being able to be commercialized. At that time I come up with a plan to use the same components from the initial technology in a different way that was novel. I had invented a flexible coating that could protect satellites and space vehicles from radiation. We produced several rounds of prototypes and were selected as a 2019 NASA iTECH company and were one of 10 companies selected to present at the space symposium.

I've always enjoyed coaching and mentoring so I began teaching. I taught BUSM 4001, Professional Business Plan Development. It was an amazing class that has the students break into teams and start companies. It is a great exercise and I know the students gain tremendously from the experience. The representative from our class won a campus wide pitch competition.

I was the Graduate School of Management Student Council member in charge of events and media relations. I was in charge of planning all of the GSOM’s events for the school year from orientation to the end of the year gala. For each event: I did market research to determine what the student body wanted from the event, I planned the event, I developed marketing and promotional media for the event and I executed the event. I gained a large amount of experience proposal writing, negotiating, purchase orders, writing contracts, managing multiple external parties simultaneously, scheduling and time management. In addition to planning events I was responsible for managing the GSOM Student Council's social media content (Twitter and Facebook) and contributed content for the official GSOM social media accounts as well as their newsletter. While in charge of the social media accounts I successfully increased subscriptions by 20% and was able to more than double attendance to events sponsored by the graduate school.

I performed extensive market research in the energy industry, including identifying potential competitors and developing competitor profiles (including calculating NPV) by analyzing financials, articles, and press releases. I used multiple sources to compile information, including: Sedar, Google Finance, Google Scholar, Yahoo Finance, LexisNexis, and Bloomberg. After collecting the information, I compiled the information into extensive reports and executive summaries. The research work cumulated to a market analysis of the world natural gas market, and a NPV calculation of a 3 billion dollar energy company. By working directly with the CEO and other executives I gained valuable experience observing how the CEO managed projects and made corporate decisions. All work was done remotely using biweekly video conferencing.

I performed medical / pharmaceutical consulting activities. My duties included: researching and cross referencing ICD9 codes to determine coverage, researching prior authorization requirements, data entry, data analysis, and answering doctor’s questions regarding medical benefits. I specialized in the complicated process of coordinating benefits between multiple insurance plans; I also prepared training material on the subject. While there I gained research, analytical, and report writing experience in a corporate environment. Additionally because the position involved working with medical records and a patient’s medical treatment I am comfortable working on confidential material that has to be correct the first time. I left the position to go to graduate school.

I owned and managed a medium sized recording studio. I preformed all the necessary business functions including: marketing through print and social media, accounting, finance, cultivating new clientele, managing existing clients, managing daily activities, and supervising three employees. Owning my own business during my undergraduate degree allowed me to gain a significantly different experience from my business degree that many of my classmates were not able to take away. I grew the business before I graduated, once graduating I sold the business and moved back to Southern California.
