Registered Nurse
I'm excited to have been offered an ongoing role with Epworth following my graduate year, providing complex care for a variety of surgical and non-surgical cardiac/cardiothoracic patients. I look forward to expanding my medical and surgical knowledge in 2023, and gaining further experience in screening and managing clinical deterioration pre-and-post operatively.
Graduate Registered Nurse
From January 2022 I've had the opportunity to spend 6-months on an acute general medical ward, expanding my clinical knowledge and skills in a fast-paced, hands-on learning environment. This has enabled me to care for both medical and surgical patients with conditions varying in severity, and provided me with a new insight into chronic/complex pain management and the palliative care processes. From July 2022, I transferred to my final 6-months on an acute cardiothoracic/coronary care ward taking a large number of elective admissions, and non-elective emergency department transfers. I've gained a deep understanding of the pre and post-operative intricacies of major cardiothoracic procedures, expanding the level of care and education I can provide to my patients. Additionally, being in an environment where patients conditions are ever-changing has enabled me to proactively identify and manage clinically deteriorating patients, taking an active role in both in MET and resuscitation scenarios.
