At Ritten, a company that specializes in providing software for addiction-treatment clinics, I have honed my skills in Go and PostgreSQL through building and maintaining the company's application. My role primarily focuses on the backend, but I also occasionally assist with frontend development using React and TypeScript. I have taken the lead in developing multiple features that have greatly enhanced the value of the product offering. Additionally, I have gained expertise in designing microservice cloud architectures.

I played a key role in scaling the integration of AI/ML algorithms within the platform and delivering secure, high-performance features and APIs. I optimized software to meet the demanding needs of the platform on bare-metal appliances. Additionally, I was responsible for building security tools to protect sensitive patient data (PHI) in the data pipeline. I also designed and developed a custom design system and modern frontend to enhance user engagement with healthcare professionals. My expertise in Go, PostgreSQL, Docker, TypeScript/React and Figma, helped me to successfully achieve these objectives.

My role was instrumental in the development of a resume builder app utilizing microservice architecture and technologies such as Node.js, Golang, and Python. I was responsible for making critical decisions on technologies for the backend, frontend, and infrastructure, and was heavily involved in a wide range of tasks, including PDF generation, building search APIs, and creating Docx files programmatically. Additionally, I developed a custom billing and subscriptions module using Google Firestore and Pub/Sub. I also led a team of 5-6 developers, mentored junior colleagues and implemented development processes such as TDD, code reviews, style guides, and CI to ensure high-quality commits. I also created CI/CD pipelines deploying microservices with GitHub Actions to managed Kubernetes (Cloud Run) and Cloud Functions.

As a member of the newly-established integrations team at MessageBird, I was responsible for developing a two-way, omni-channel messaging API that supported various social media channels such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, and WeChat from scratch. I successfully scaled the API from zero to over 1 million messages per month, utilizing technologies such as Go, Google Cloud Spanner, and Kubernetes. I also implemented a 99.999% availability policy through the use of redundant queuing and message retries. Additionally, I built an application that integrated the messaging API with MessageBird and Zendesk, allowing for the creation of support tickets on all available chat platforms.

As an integral member of a small frontend team, I played a crucial role in the development of a video conferencing and meeting scheduling application. Utilizing my expertise in React and WebSockets, I was able to implement real-time interactivity within the app. Despite the company's unfortunate outcome of running out of funding, it was a valuable experience for me to be a part of a team working on this project.

I spearheaded the upgrade of the web application and APIs, taking the lead on a greenfield initiative. I built a modern app utilizing React/Redux, Node.js, and server-side rendering, resulting in decreased page load times and increased marketplace conversions. Additionally, I developed serverless microservices using AWS Lambda, and created an open-source SDK library with bindings to the API. I also implemented an Elasticsearch service with a custom function scoring algorithm. To improve developer productivity and accelerate release cycles, I implemented a deployment strategy using Terraform, Packer and Ansible.

As a founding member of the engineering team at Impero, a creative agency, I played a critical role in establishing new development processes and creating a custom web-framework and platform for app development that was optimized for the agency's high-profile clients. In my role as team lead, I was responsible for making primary decisions on development tools, databases, servers, and deployment. Additionally, I mentored junior colleagues as the team grew in size.

Starting out my engineering career, I took the lead on front-end development and UI/UX interface design for a consumer fintech app that published credit scores, powered by Equifax data. In addition to this, I also built features in the API layer using technologies such as Python, Pyramid, Flask, and MySQL.
