TL;DR: I help early and growth stage saas b2b companies figure out who they're actually competing with and how to win with competitive research-backed positioning. ---Over the last 14 years, I helped bring products to market in startups and Fortune 100 companies in a variety of roles. Some of those were $160M multidisciplinary products, some were DTC apps, most of them were SaaS B2B.Then in 2023 I saw talented folks being laid off to compensate for lack of exec strategy, and clever folks leaving toxic work environments even without a new gig on the horizon. You can say that I lost faith in the corporate system.So, I decided to take a little break from it and reevaluate.I believed I had experience worth sharing. I also knew there was a lot more to learn--and I wanted to learn from the best. So I started building my circle on LinkedIn that summer. And I created meaningful connections almost immediately. In just a couple of months I was meeting some of my personal heroes and expanded my network more than I have in the previous two years.And that was when I decided to stop interviewing for jobs I didnβt really want and doubled down on myself. Since that day Iβve been doing the work I love while being very intentional about the folks I work with.After a few months patterns began to emerge: - Competitive intel, one of the most strategic elements in marketing (remember Porterβs 5 forces?), is used mostly to create the most tactical assets (that are rarely being used anyway)- Most companies anchor their positioning on themselves, instead of articulating to their customers how they're differentIβm on a mission to change these two things.-----Before I was in product marketing:I went from a PMO to a Product leader at an enterprise company within 3 years. I discovered Product Marketing during my MBA and since then have worked in pre-IPO growth stage startups as a founding PMM and a director of product marketing.
