My role as IP Counsel at Douglas is a diverse one. I carry overall responsibility for the company's freedom to operate in the generic pharma space, both in New Zealand and (in co-operation with our overseas customers) for exports. I also handle IP aspects of contractual issues for the company and oversee any complex or contentious trade mark and copyright matters which may arise. I provide education and up-skilling on IP within the company, and work closely with New Product Development teams to ensure both freedom to operate and, capture and management of new IP generated within the business. I have also developed a role liaising with government officials on IP issues arising from government and trade policy which may affect the Douglas businesses.I enjoy working on new projects and engaging closely with business to produce successful commercial outcomes around intellectual property.
