I am managing and establishing testing best practices by introducing test management processes to a company that lacked quality assurance. I and my team test various projects that are merged into the main web product solution delivering medical claims analysis. We handle multiple projects with up to 15 open projects at one time. We handle the testing expectations of multiple project managers by analyzing risk of the testing in compacted timelines. The projects are being developed in two different methodologies: waterfall and agile with the two different development teams in California and the Czech Republic. I am designing a maintainable automation solution for a small company using low cost and free tools while also creating and improving a quality oriented regression plan for the application.

I managed and developed a quality assurance/automation team with up to 5 members. The team tested web applications for external and internal customers, validating monthly customer data feeds using SQL and automated scripts. I improved the time it took to release customer data from one week to under a day by implementing these scripts. I established quality assurance best practice standards by generating procedures for the team to follow to improve quality of the product and documentation of the test cycle. I taught the standards of quality to the team by establishing the use of regression test plans and creation of test cases for new features to be added to the regression test plan for each release. I established a test environment for the quality assurance team to test the product before it goes to production. Track testing responsibilities for the multiple product releases and created weekly metrics using the Microsoft Team Foundation Server System and Excel. Responsible for the creation of review board for issues found in field and testing made up of development, business and quality assurance to ensure the correct issues get fixed in the correct release. Liaison between Client Services and Development team to ensure that development keeps the customer in mind when reviewing tasks to get into a release. Researched, recommended, purchased and then implemented automation tools; chose SmartBear TestComplete and QA Complete. Designed and automated a daily test to ensure web application is up daily for the customer using TestComplete. Designed and automated the validation of monthly customer data feeds that are used in the web application using a combination of SQL Stored Procedures and TestComplete.

Implemented and maintained the automation team ranging from 3-9 members at any one time.

The position focused on the testing of an application called DirectorySmart that was a secure login application for e-business. Created new test cases for new features and updated regression plans. I maintained and configured the hardware for the testing lab. I worked closely with the technical writer to ensure the latest releases were documented accurately while I also presented training to the client services team for each new release.

This position focused on maintaining our testing hardware while building manual test plans for java based and web based applications. I also created new web pages and applications for departmental and companywide usage to track metrics on the existing projects being worked by the team. Along with a secondary position as an automation support engineer to the manual testers using the internally developed test tool written in C++. I created web applications to improve the creation of the test cases by allowing the user to put in a few options and automatically create test cases. I also created internal tools and reports for team and management to improve efficiency. I helped maintain the captive office lab while also being on 24/7 support help desk to remote and internal users. I also helped support the college co-op program by mentoring the team’s co-ops and interviewing future co-ops for the position. Finally, I developed and maintained the department’s and directorship internal web page.
