As the sole technical writer at basys, I am responsible for managing all aspects of the documentation and publication process in accordance with project timelines, documentation standards, and Agile software development methods. - Design, write, edit, and publish product and project documentation, reference materials, demos, release notes, and business communications. - Prepare cost and time estimates for document project initiatives. - Coordinate and oversee documentation project teams to meet project deadlines.- Develop formal systems and methodologies used for creating and maintaining publications.- Validate documentation with customers through Voice of the Customer (VOC) principles, including establishing customer relationships and interviewing and surveying customers.- Perform software usability tests, including setting up data and executing user workflows. - Evaluate user interfaces for consistency and write text for error messages.

Under the Engineering department’s umbrella, my key responsibilities were managing, creating, and maintaining all documentation for CasinoLink, Mikohn’s slot machine accounting software. - Designed, wrote, edited, and published technical bulletins of CasinoLink software changes for the Nevada Gaming Commission. This documentation was legally required for any software change and had an aggressive release schedule of weekly hot fixes, patches, and updates. - Wrote and edited technical and user manuals for CasinoLink software, firmware, and hardware.- Created message flow diagrams, wiring diagrams, network diagrams, tables, and graphics to illustrate technical material.- Established documentation standards and guidelines for four technical writers, which included developing an in-house style guide.- Worked closely with engineering staff to understand software changes, which included gathering information from functional and technical specifications, design notes, mechanical drawings, version change documents, and software code.
