About Tamara Freeman

Dr. Tamara Freeman is an instructor/coordinator for the first year chemistry program. Her PhD was obtained in the field of materials chemistry with specific interest in the structure/function relationships of light-activated polymer compounds. Think plastic transitions glasses. She has a varied background of chemistry-based work experience ranging from PCB testing to paint and coatings formulations. Tamara is perhaps best known for live demonstrations performed in class in which she brings chemistry to life! Her experience with chemical demonstration has led to an ever growing elementary and high-school based outreach program, in which the focus is to encourage younger students to get involved with science. The best part: liquid nitrogen ice cream!
