Nonprofit Development: Secure over $13 million since April 2020 in expense and capital grants from city, state, and federal government, corporate and foundations to support operations during COVID-19, historic preservation and restoration, and community-based arts-in-education programming including $1.058 million from the New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative and $1 million New York State Capital Resolution.Policy and Advocacy: Develop rapid response strategies in a quick moving policy landscape. Provide research and analysis on city, state, and federal legislation, grants, and loan programs. Engage in city, state and federal advocacy regarding organization’s needs during COVID-19 mandated closure. Identify critical opportunities and challenges in the government policy environment. Collaborate with external partners to build support for policy agendas. Craft government communications; represent organization at meetings with elected officials and government agencies and legislative hearings.

Secured over $1.7 million annually from government, corporate and foundation sources to support historic preservation and restoration, and community-based arts-in-education programming.

Co-Principal Investigator: COVID-19 Response Policies and New York City Arts: Access and ImpactsDesign and implement survey regarding COVID-19 pandemic and differential impacts of federal relief programs on nonprofit arts organizations in New York City. Co-conduct semi-structured interviews with nonprofit leaders and government stakeholders. Complete qualitative analysis of interview data using NVivo. Assist with quantitative analysis. Manuscript preparation.

Program Development: Created grassroots non-profit arts organization, gaining national recognition including grant awards from the National Endowment for the Arts and Chamber Music America. Created initiatives to inspire community-based arts engagement including public concert series, annual open air music festival, concert series for developmentally disabled adults, creative aging program for older adults, composer commission opportunities, and annual composer competition.Partnership Management: Formed organizational partnerships with museums and performance venues, New York Public Library, and agencies for developmentally disabled adults. Successfully led and trained staff and independent contractors to fulfill organizational goals. Liaised with local, state and federal elected officials regarding arts policy, and funding processes and mechanisms.
