I am a registered Psychologist and registered Teacher, and I have also completed the Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology Advanced programme through Monash University. My career experience in providing psychological services to children, young people and families has included educational and clinical settings. This experience has involved addressing a wide range of mental health, learning and personal concerns. I have demonstrated skill in the implementation of therapies including cognitive-behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy and interpersonal psychotherapy modalities, as well as psycho-education and expressive therapy (such as sand tray and non-directive play therapies) and mindfulness. My particular interest is in working with children, adolescents and young people in therapeutic and assessment (psychometric, developmental and learning) contexts, while adopting an affirmative approach. In the early stages of my career, I was a classroom teacher in a variety of settings (including early childhood, middle years and specialist environments). I have also been a teacher of gifted and talented students, having taught in the innovative “Infinity” program at St Peters Lutheran College, Indooroopilly, and being part of the establishment of gifted education programs in two Sunshine Coast independent schools. I also taught extension classes and coordinated student support as the Personalised Learning Team Leader at Anglican Church Grammar School ("Churchie"). Following my registration as a psychologist, I spent many years focused on the guidance and counselling of students from early childhood to secondary school age in educational settings. I am experienced in identifying young people with learning difficulties, mental health concerns, gifts and talents, and other profiles such as neurodivergence. My background enables me to make educational recommendations for students in order to meet their individual needs.I have also been in private practice for several years with a particular interests in the assessment of giftedness and in complex presentations. I have completed Masters degrees in both Gifted and Talented Education and Inclusive Education, and my study areas included learning difficulties, autism, sensory impairments and augmentative/alternative communication. My current doctoral research area of interest is centred around neurodivergence and giftedness.
