Technical Product Manager
I define and maintain product strategy and vision. To accomplish this, I meet with stakeholders to define and prioritize the features. From these conversations, I develop the roadmap to define what and when the product team will deliver. For the development team, I define the features by working with the project Technical Business Analyst to develop user stories and requirements. I challenge the development team by setting ambitious goals and encouraging them to think big. I also promote the product by sharing how features in the product can help them meet their business objectives or duties. My products include internal, external and Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) products. I have also inherited products that did not initially meet the business goals requiring me to revisit the entire product and develop a plan to allow the product to reach the business intent. Each product has their own unique challenges, so I must adapt to any product scenario to ensure that the product delivers the maximum business benefit.Core Projects:JHA Service Center: An internal Help Desk application allowing users to submit requests for assistance or new service.Sheltered Harbor: A banking initiative to protect Financial Institutions’ customers from a catastrophic hacking eventFor Clients: JHA’s customer portal that gives them a single-entry point for communication with JHAFlight Management: A vendor solution that allows the Travel department to manage and track corporate flightsService Operations Center: For this product I am mentoring another TPM
Technical Business Analyst
I gathered requirements for projects, both Custom Developed and Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) initiatives. Using Elicitation Methods that include, but are not limited to, Interviews, Observation, and Brainstorming I gather requirements to communicate to a team of software engineers and to vendors. I analyze the processes and confirm what I learn using Context, State and Process Diagrams. I use Entity Relationship Diagrams to give a clear image of what the data might look like. My primary goal by project kick off is to have the requirements completed at a level that suits the project type and methodology being used. For COTS, this is limited to creating a Software Evaluation Matrix that is used during vendor demonstrations to evaluate each vendor using the same criteria. For custom development using Waterfall, I review the requirements with the project team and make myself available throughout the project. My involvement with Agile is much more involved. We use the SCRUM methodology, and my role in these projects is the Product Owner. As a result, I manage the product backlog which contains the requirements at a level appropriate for its location on the backlog. Core Projects:IaaS: Automates server requests and virtual server builds for the enterprise IaaS – Asset Tracker: track cost, location, specifications and location for server assets in the organizationJhaDirect: Print Services software for JHA customersMarketing Project Management (COTS): A vendor solution designed for the marketing team Directory Services Object Management (DSOM): Manage Active Directory Accounts
Project Manager
I was transitioned from IT in CoxHealth to Cerner and my skills were matched to a Project Management position. I created the project charter to ensure we were developing or considering vendor solutions that will meet the requirements. Using Microsoft Project and associated share point sites, I created the project plan, managed issues and risks, and timelines. Those same sites were the project document storage solution for project charters, scopes, technical requirements, meeting minutes and any other necessary documentation. When CoxHealth acquired Skaggs hospital in Branson Mo, I got the privilege to manage the transition to and implementation of the Revenue Cycle, Human Resources, Materials Management, and Population Health enterprise solutions. During this time, helping manage competing priorities was key to these large-scale projects. Other projects included roll-out and implementation of inpatient education, risk management, fitness center solutions. I continue to be the project manager and business analyst for the self-developed solutions I was associated with before transitioning to Cerner. Providing these two roles helps me maintain the business analyst skills project teams need and allows the engineers to focus on development.
Business Analyst
I provided process and business analysis when a custom software solution was required to satisfy a department or enterprise need. I managed the entire project life cycle from initial customer meeting and elicitation to development and roll-out to support and updates. By working closely with both the customer and project team, I developed use cases and determined the data sources. Process and workflow analysis helped determine workflow and user interface design. Training helped ensure the built software is understood and used. Throughout the project lifecycle, documentation helped ensure all parties were well informed. This documentation included Project Scopes, Use Case Scenarios, Test Cases, Database and User Interface Design Documentation and Help Files. I worked and managed projects in almost every area of the hospital including, but not limited to, tracking patients through the admissions to discharge process, print shop applications, employee termination workflow, and employee health flu vaccination tracking. My projects have saved the enterprise resources by streamlining and integrating processes. They have also won national awards for innovation.Core Enterprise Projects:Identity & Access ManagementEntire Suite of Patient Throughput Applications – 2008 winner of Most Wired Innovator AwardCoxHealth Express – Certified by Federal Government satisfying Meaningful Use Stage I CriteriaPatient Equipment Management Online Bill Pay
