I have over 20 years’ experience in European equity markets in sales, trading, business development and market structure working at UBS and major MTF’s - Chi-X/BATS (now Cboe) and Aquis. Key strengths include building and managing strong relationships, the ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to change as well as able to communicate fluently in 4 languages. I spent my earlier career living and working in Zurich, Geneva and London at UBS as a sales-trader covering a major client base. My cultural background has allowed me to understand the importance of subtilties in each culture and enabled me to address the needs and mentalities of the clients I have worked with accordingly.I later joined Chi-X Europe as one of the first to be part of the business development and sales team. I worked to develop the business of the 1st pan-European equities MTF from launch which allowed me to fully leverage my language skills (French, English, Italian, German), knowledge of the EU equity markets and cultural sensitivity. The first-mover advantage helped the company rapidly grow to become and remain the largest venue for pan-EU equity trading.The arrival of MiFID introduced competition amongst stock exchanges and I supported the organisation in driving forward innovation, changes to the market structure and best execution requirements. I initiated and built relationships with top tier banks, brokers, and trading houses across Europe. In addition, I established relationships and collaborated with broker associations, third party vendors, press, exhibitions etc. as the company’s rapidly growing market share attracted great interest from participants across the industry. Ahead of Brexit go-live I started a role in market surveillance overseeing the trading activity of the Aquis EU MTF. This position has further equipped me with a deep understanding of the electronic trading microstructure thanks to the daily analysis of trading patterns as granular as exchange tick data originating from algorithms from a variety of tier 1 trading participants.Regulations continue to shape financial markets and their evolution and impact stakeholders across the industry. They are a key driver of innovation, technology, business and product development and this role has helped me further grow my knowledge and gain invaluable insight when navigating the complex European landscape, which complements and diversifies my experience.
