I have had the privilege of working in communities of collaborative and creative educators dedicated to serving others. Each and every day we work with faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and community members to develop content and programs that build awareness and opportunities while inspiring a desire to achieve success. It requires efficient planning time, clear and precise communication of roles and expectations, and a warm and positive attitude to build relationships, networks, and strategies for success. I have managed excellent teams who planned and executed special interest events involving community vendors, volunteers, student leaders, and specialized activities. I developed and organized our ideas based on projected outcomes while creating a process to track participants and locations. I believe in a community that nurtures and challenges others while providing opportunities for continued growth and career development. We need to look through the lens of who we serve and analyze existing systems and operations in order to identify existing problems or missing pieces of the puzzle that are needed in order to fully utilize our community resources, CTE training programs, and work-based learning industries. We need to ask the essential questions and improve our strategies for marketing and recruitment, with the focus centered on building community relationships that develop resources and career exploration opportunities for our future workforce.
