The Griffith University Widening Participation Project is a Federal Government funded program that aims to assist students successfully transition through and graduate from University. The role of Study Group Leader is to provide small groups of students with a mechanism for discussing their academic programs and assist in developing study skills, engaging in general university and personal life problem solving.

I initiated this project as part of the study being conducted by the Queensland Herbarium (formerly Department of Environment and Resource Management) on the environmental impacts of usage of the Horse-Trail Network throughout south east Queensland. I commenced the study: "Vehicles as vectors of weed dispersal in protected areas of south east Queensland" as a part of my university undergraduate degree, and recieved funding from the Environmental Futures Centre to continue the study through the summer semester of 2011/2012. The project has involved the collection of soil samples from State Government research and National Parks maintenance vehicles and the completion of germination trials of the samples to assess the potential of Government vehcicles to act as vectors of weed seed.

Mount Coot-Tha Botanic Gardens

As part of the Griffith University Work Integrated Learning program (Industrial Affiliates Program), I completed the research project: "Structural and floristic changes in semi-evergreen vine thicket over 50 years, at the Brigalow Research Station, central Queensland".The study was conducted from January to June 2011 and included vegetation surveys in central Queensland with Dr Bill McDonald (Principal Botanist - Qld Herbarium). Results of the 2011 survey were compared with surveys conducted in the 1960's and 1990's and statistical analysis performed to determine the significance of changes over time, along with a review of comtemporary literature on seasonally dry tropical forests.I continued this study on a voluntary basis from July to November 2011, and presented the results on behalf of Dr Bill McDonald at the Ecological Society of Australia annual conference in Hobart November 2011.

As administrative officer with Strikeforce Qld, my main role was the handling of all accounts payable processes. This included the approval, coding and processing of all incoming invoices, account reconciliation and payments. The role also included processing and banking of incoming payments and assisting the office manager with the preparation of end of month reporting and Business Activity Statements.

This temporary role was to fill the position of Credit Controller while the permanent staff member was on maternity leave. The role involved all aspects of credit control, including collection of revenue, risk assessment, customer account reconciliation and query resolution, cash forecasting and monthly reporting.

Comalco Credit Services was a division of Comalco Aluminium Limited - an aluminium and extruded products supplier primarily to the building industry. In December 1995, Comalco Aluminium Limited was aquired by Alcan and now trades as Capral Aluminium.This role involved the control of accounts receivable for Comalco's extrusion mill division, rolled products and aluminium supply warehouses throughout Queensland - reporting to the regional credit manager based at head office in Sydney NSW. Responsibilities included: telephone, written and personal revenue collection, processing and banking of incoming revenue, account reconciliation and resolution of account queries, authorisation of sales orders, risk assessment of new customers, meetings of creditors and preparation of documentation for legal action against delinquent debtors.
