Supporting Independent Study educational options for a public school district including overseeing operations at the District's TK-12 independent study/home education school.

Under general direction, assists in the managing and supervision of certificated professional development. Is responsible for utilizing CAASPP and other data as well as analysis of claims and targets to work with district staff to determine professional development needs at the district level. Provide support to principals and staff with their instructional leadership responsibilities, by assisting in the review of data, classroom walkthroughs, identifying needs, and developing an action plan to address site level needs in the area of instruction and identify strategies and professional development. Provides resources and/or training on scientifically based strategies to schools. Assists the district and principals with creation of and implementation of state improvement plans. Works with teacher groups to identify gaps in adopted instructional materials and find or develop resources to assist teachers in addressing standards and student learning. Leads school improvement efforts focused on instructional practices that will close the achievement gap and increase student achievement. Manages and supports teachers on special assignment (TOSAs), teacher induction staff, site intervention staff, and is the liaison to contracted professional development providers. Performs other related functions as directed. The positionis directly responsible to the Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction.

The primary charge of the Reading Instruction Certificate Advisory board is to provide leadership with guidance about its strategic direction. Specifically, we ask that members of the advisory committee: Meet quarterly with the Reading and Literacy management team, beginning in late June/early JulyProvide counsel, expertise and experience-based perspectives as courses are adjusted and feedback on content, format and delivery   Provide advisement on issues related to community engagement and leverage networks to disseminate information about the Reading and Literacy program Serve as community advocates in relationships with prospective donors, partner schools, and institutions.
