⦾ Big ideas + small details.⦾ Arrived at librarianship from a love of public space and self-directed learning. After finding vintage horn-rimmed glasses at the thrift shop in Tasmania, friends all told me I looked “just like a librarian”. It stuck.⦾ Now I plan and maintain metadata and systems in library spaces. I am a cataloguer, systems admin, documentarian, academic and leader. I guide metadata strategies at Capilano University on the lands of the xʷməθkʷəỷəm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and SəỈílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh Nations, and I teach and learn at the University of the Fraser Valley on the lands of the Stó꞉lō Nation and the Semá:th people. ⦾ As an educator, I teach cataloguing and technological literacy. My courses discuss technology trends in light of security, privacy, equity, accessibility, user experience, and disruption. We explore metadata through the lens of critical cataloguing, and in relation to shifting systems and standards. ⦾ Whether library systems or systems thinking, I love collaborating to explore how we work together in libraries. I value teamwork, authenticity, and communication. My research interests include: computer-mediated communication; communities of practice; grounded theory methodologies.
