The national nonprofit Share Our Strength partnered with state leaders to launch No Kid Hungry North Carolina in September 2011 and retained Hatch, under Tamara's leadership, to direct the launch. Based on that success, the nonprofit then engaged Tamara to manage the ongoing efforts of the public-private partnership that works to end childhood hunger in the state. In March 2014, No Kid Hungry NC became a part of the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at UNC. The initiative collaborates with state agencies and other anti-hunger leaders to connect kids to federal nutrition programs including school breakfast and summer meals programs.
