About Tamara Cummins

With over 10 years' experience leading business project teams, including 7 years in operational management, and a further 4 years in property services, I understand first-hand what is needed to deliver successful projects, events and campaigns.I have worn many project hats across business planning and budgets, events, marketing, communication, fundraising, finance, property refurbishment and services, governance, customer service and strategic procurement. My recent time in the not-for-profit sector has consolidated my skills in developing and nurturing productive partner and supporter relationships across all levels of an organisation and across a variety of internal and external stakeholders. It has also provided invaluable exposure to operations and financial management, events, marketing, communications and balanced revenue generation. I have proven experience in delivering successful initiatives and managing teams in a variety of locations in both Australia and New Zealand. In all aspects of work and life, I am recognised for my commitment and persistence in achieving my goals.My record shows a high level of adaptability founded on strong business acumen, sound judgement and the ability to make decisions. I have a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Administration and Sociology, and a Diploma of Languages in French. I am proficient in both Mac and PC, have used the full Microsoft Suite(including MS Project) and several Customer and Content Management Systems.

Collaborated with the Board to facilitate the Crime Stoppers Australia National Conference 2013.This was a contract based role with an agreed time-frame.

Key outcomes Implemented the Sportsman's Lunch and the Law Enforcement Torch Run-two national fundraising and public relations events.Established inaugural local relationships with key national partners, IGA and News Limited, for financial and in-kind support.Assisted with community fundraising to support the Tasmanian athletes who competed at the Special Olympics World Games in Greece Athens, 2011.Secured funding to support the establishment of the Community Sports Link Schools Program, bringing more than 500 students to the new program in the first year.

Key outcomes Established the inaugural State Office, including the change to the organisation’s legal entity status to become part of Special Olympics Australia, thus ensuring continued program accreditation.Developed positive relationships between new State Office and key internal (athletes, volunteers, families) and external stakeholders (sports organisations, government, business partners and other community organisations).Designed the inaugural fundraising/income generating program to resource state and regional programs, including grant applications, sponsorship, special events and public appeal. Implemented new public relations, marketing & communication activities resulting in increased community support for Special Olympics across Tasmania.Set the groundwork for the Special Olympics program in Tasmania to affiliate new communities as appropriate (e.g. schools, sports associations, disability organisations etc).
