In 2008 I formed my own consulting firm in Cape Town, South Africa with the goal of promoting sustainability amongst the private sector and within civil society organizations. I have also served as a strategic business and sustainability adviser/consultant with the United Nations and corporate clients. I am currently based in Amsterdam.

Wrote Greenpeace's International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO) Accountability Report for 2013 including collecting all relevant information and data, coordinating with various departments in multiple countries, analysing information gathered to determine what is most relevant and drafting and editing final report for publication. Wrote a summary of eight Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) methodologies to aid Greenpeace in determining which approaches to adopt.

Advised Canadian company on South African government initiative on economic empowerment (BBBEE) including drafting policies to ensuring compliance and identifying a community based organisation for Forensic Technologies to support in their Corporate Social Investment efforts. In addition, drafted all communications both internal and external relating to BBBEE status.

Wrote speech, press materials and web content for the Wine Industry Development Association (WIDA), an organisation aimed at promoting transformation in South Africa.Conducted research and interviews on the state of Corporate Social Investment (CSI) in the South African retail sector producing summary of findings with examples of best practice, brand integration and programming.

Project Coordinator for a major South African platinum company’s CSR Report. I spent two weeks in North West province researching, interviewing and drafting report. In addition I researched public agency sustainability reports globally including at provincial, state and municipal levels producing a 5-page summary of key findings.

Conducted research on poverty issues in South Africa and meeting the 2015 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which resulted in the publication of extensive reports for institutional investors on 6 key areas including: Enterprise Development; Health and HIV/AIDS; Food Security; Education; Environment and Conservation and Vulnerable People

I researched the history of sustainability reports from leading South African companies in the telecommunications and financial industries.In addition, I drafted a web-based sustainability report for Sanlam, a major financial institution, which received a special recognition by the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) Index. This required creating a detailed action plan for report content collection, interviews and writing. I also developed Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) tables for reporting companies including sector supplement data.

I wrote and edited newsletters, articles, web content, strategic documents, editorial pieces and fundraising proposals. In addition, I developed a corporate identity and brand strategy. I was the Project Manager for the development of a corporate brochure including copy edit, design and print. I also drafted web strategy review for 6 websites including content analysis, image inventory and new architectural structure.

I managed over 390 membership-based Organisational Stakeholders (OS) including all communications, events, strategic fundraising initiatives and relationship development. I doubled the amount of members in 14 months raising over €200,000 for GRI.I was the OS liaison at international events, internal meetings and within the GRI networks involving writing, creating presentations and giving speeches at events in Lisbon, Delft and Amsterdam.I wrote articles for publication, media releases, web content and funding reports. I devised an OS communications plan including launching a quarterly newsletter, developing both an external sub-website and internal website for all members, producing brochures, articles and letters. I managed all OS attending an international conference with Al Gore as plenary speaker including creating and managing an information booth, writing all communications, contacting media, organising dinner for 200 people and serving as representative for 400 OS attending event.

I researched, wrote and compiled Oxfam International’s (OI) 2004 Annual Report including interviewing regional staff, coordinating financial data, editing images and researching external news coverage. I wrote a summary of OI's internal review of their strategic plan which was distributed to all OI staff (2000 +) worldwide, extracting key information related to performance measurements and key successes.Under the supervision of Oxfam Novib, I created the Rights Based Approach (RBA) to Development intranet for all 12 Oxfams. This involved researching data, travelling to Oxfam offices to compile information and interview staff then writing and summarising over 100 documents. Based on these findings I developed the web architecture.

I was a member of Brand, Identity group contributing to strategy, brand development and guidelines. I developed and launched Oxfam International's (OI) first multi-lingual website. My job entailed coordinating press releases, policy papers and other content related to Oxfam as well as researching and wroting updates, campaign highlights, enewsletters and program stories. I was the Information coordinator for 12 Oxfam sites and OI internal communications providing advice, strategies and unique approaches to information flow. I developed a web communication strategy to facilitate smaller Oxfams in receiving information, content and images as well as consulted and helped develop Oxfam associate websites in India and Japan. I also served as Press Officer at the World Social Forum in Brazil and at a OI hosted Forum in Ireland coordinating all information, contacting media, interviewing participants and writing summaries and daily updates.In addition, I created an HIV/Aids sub site working with experts to include program stories, reports and interviews in run-up to the International Aids conference in Bangkok 2004.

I was the second employee in an innovative start-up web portal for wildlife conservation and animal welfare requiring multi-tasking and donning many hats to keep the company afloat. I was involved with developing the business strategy, brand, design and lay out of the web portal. I created a communications and media strategy, wrote press releases, business proposals, funding reports and all content for website. I created and managed Virunga Affiliates consisting of over 250 partner organisations from across the globe and served as chief liaison person for all Affiliates, Individual users (1000) and Correspondents (26) worldwide. In addition I organised promotional and marketing events in London, Amsterdam and online

I researched and analysed over 50 International Environmental Conventions and interviewed experts for a report on Voting Procedures. This report was presented at the International Whaling Commission meeting in 1999.I also wrote a report on the Precautionary Principle in International Environmental Law in relation to Canada’s annual harp seal hunt.
