•Created and led a new business unit, from a start-up (pilot) in one country to global scale, resulting in a $35M USD portfolio with operations across 7 countries in Asia and Africa and 280+ staff. Started with no experience in international development, base of the pyramid markets, or WASH. This business unit became the largest, most profitable, and most impactful unit of the organization. • Managed three product lines across Asian and African markets. Over 2,000,000+ people impacted and $15M USD in revenue – measured in unit sales to customers living at the Base of the Pyramid on $1-2/day. • Created the vision and 5-year strategic plan for the business unit and developed and implemented successful marketing strategies and campaigns for base of the pyramid markets, resulting in unprecedented sales of WASH products and 20% increase in market penetration. • Direct leadership of management team comprised of finance, business development, innovation, fundraising, and knowledge managers. Recruited, trained, mentored, and led inter-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams including 7 country managers. • Developed and managed operation budgets and revenue forecasts of $20+M USD for 1 to 5-year time horizons for the business unit and country programs. Year-over-year was the most profitable business unit of the organization.• Institutionalized Human Centered Design (HCD) processes as part of all phases of country program design and implementation resulting in award winning designs and business models. • Managed relationships and contracts with private foundations (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation), multi- and bi-laterals (the World Bank), multinational corporations (American Standard, Kohler), and sub-contracted and consulting partners. • Engaged in country and global level policy development and advocacy including working with multi- and bi-laterals and national and regional governments.
