I grew up the daughter of a letterpress printer and binder whose shop was in the back yard. Thus, design was a natural direction for my own work.After some technical education in the South, I began to travel and ended up in New England, via a fun job at a postcard advertising company in Dublin, Ireland (thanks to Mark Hooper for hiring me!).Now I run my own design studio and here is a bit about it:• Sitka Creations is a full-service design studio where ideas are designed via graphic design, web design, and social media marketing!• Sitka Creations is woman-owned and run on girl power!• Sitka Creations is owned and operated by Tamar Russell Brown out of Central Massachusetts. It all began when one of Tamar Russell Brown's landlords from college got in touch. He let Tamar know that his advertising agency just wasn't cutting it and was costing too much... and thus a working-relationship was born. Now Sitka functions in a much busier fashion with the majority of our clients being on Martha's Vineyard, New York City and Central MA.

Gallery Founder & DirectorGallery Sitka May 2014 - PresentShirley, MassachusettsGallery Sitka opened in May 2014 and was part of Sitka Creations. We adopted the name Gallery Sitka in August of 2015. We are located in the Phoenix Park Mill in Shirley, MA.We hold monthly to semi-monthly shows in the mill. We also manage the Artist’s Walkway at The Bull Run in Shirley, MA.We opened another location on Friday, July 8, 2016, in downtown Fitchburg, MA. Our Ribbon Cutting was at 10 AM on July 8th and our Grand Opening and Solo Reception for Gosha Karpowicz was on July 9th from 1-4 PM. This Gallery was closed on December 1, 2018. We opened and operated a pop-up gallery in Shelburne Falls, MA from May 2019-November 2019. Now we are focusing on art lending for commercial and residential use, as well as pop-ups in NYC and around New England. We are currently based in Shirley, MA and Newport, RI.OUR MISSION is to support the arts, to be part of the creative economy, and provide a space for emerging artists to be seen and to have the experience of showing their work in a gallery-style atmosphere.In terms of the style that we wish to share with the public, we feel like one of our favorite artists, Ilse Buchert Nesbitt, that “art should uplift”. To that end, the work that we carry, will tend to beautify spaces, rather than make statements. -

My father is a letterpress printer and I wanted to continue to learn. Hence, I approached Ilse Buchert Nesbitt about printing and she agreed to use me seasonally for larger print runs on her 19th-century Golding platen press.
