PFaroe PM is a portfolio management tool offering performance attribution, Monte Carlo and historical risk analysis, stress testing for multi-asset class portfolios with integrated market data, climate analytics, and ESG content. It is aimed at portfolio managers and operations teams. It offers a clear understanding of their portfolio performance drivers and the ability to identify important trends. Previously known as PensionsFirst, now part of Moody’s Analytics, the company is offering an SaaS product called PFaroe. PFaroe is an information platform that provides stakeholders of defined benefit pension plans with up-to-date funding, risk, and market information. Over the three years I spent there, my professional career took a turn. The experience of having to deal with high traffic, large scale production systems that corporate clients depend on was decisive in understanding the importance of testing, taking ownership and responsibility for one’s own mistakes. Innovez is a small Richmond, London based company with a focus on energy trading technology. Their systems cover a wide spectrum of front to back office and operational requirements. I joined as a graduate, took the initiative and worked independently from day one. Main projects:▪ Analytic: I used an existing code base as a starting point and developed a charting library with a focus on energy trading. Some of the features included custom formulabased data sources, real time data feeds, technical analyses using a wide range of indicators, annotations including channels, Fibonacci retracements, comparison and distribution charts.▪ StatLink: StatLink was a data mining application that scraped websites and connected to various APIs to collect real-time, hourly and daily information about natural gas flows, storage capacities and future nominations across the European natural gas network.
