Author/PublishBaltimore Jazz Movers, Shakers And Music Makers A New History Apr 2015 - PresentBaltimore, Maryland AreaBaltimore is the “Unsung Mecca of Jazz and Blues” and posessses a fascinating untold story in the annals of Jazz and American Music History. My wish is to share a story that is both educational and entertaining. I have had the opportunity to exhibit snippets of Baltimore Jazz at The Walters Art Museum and the exhibit "The Roots of Jazz Baltimore" at the Enoch Pratt Library. Now it has emerged into a book and we would like to thank you in advance for your pre-order copy of Baltimore Jazz movers, shakers and music makers A New History. The dissertation and images bring to light the lush and prodigious story of the evolution of African American Classical Music and culture in one of America's unsung living classrooms for music, art, culture and entertainment; Baltimore, Maryland. The book reveals a story of musical “Free State Maryland” and Baltimore City and the contributions and a major impact local musicians community have made on history, music, art & culture, and entertainment worldwide, resulting in a monumental influence on American Music as we know it today. Baltimore has been an incubator for jazz musicians who played a style known as RagTime and the Blues throughout the 19th and 20th Century and beyond, and continues to cultivate and usher in movers, shakers and music makers of the new Millennium; Cyrus Chestnut, Warren Wolf, Lee Pearson, Natalie Carter-Prince, Todd Marcus, Maysa Leake, Donte Winslow, Jimmy Wilson, Drew Davidson, George Colligan, Tim Greene, Antonio Hart, and myriad others who are poised to set a significant precedence in the world of Jazz as meaningful as Cab Calloway, Chick Webb, Ann Wiggins Brown, O'Donel "Butch" Levy, Lou Bennett, Avon Long, Billie Holiday, Elmer Snowden, Ethel & Andy Ennis, Eubie Blake, Gary Bartz and many other musical men and women who have laid the foundation for an undeniably meaningful artistic and cultural experience that is arguably one of America’s greatest contributions to world culture.
