Focused on student growth in middle school mathematics.

I taught math & science at Gamewell Middle School. I was also the athletic director at GMS. I have taught both math at all three grade levels and science in 6th & 7th grade in various years during my tenure the past eight years while at Gamewell Middle.I have served at the district level as the sixth grade math benchmark builder. I have led professional development sessions on creating teacher webpages, school safety, how to a more effective teacher, and Interactive Notebooks. I advocate for North Carolina students, teachers, and education through my seat on the executive board of PENC (Professional Educators of NC) as Vice President. The big programs and focuses at Gamewell Middle have been Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS), incorporating Chromebooks into the classroom with various forms of technology, Accelerated Math, Google and Google Apps, SIOP, and Kahoots! to name a few.My personal professional development has included: Thinking Maps, Common Core, Google, Microsoft Office (with certification in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), NASA workshops & using NEON (NASA Educator Online Network), TI-73 Calculators, EVAAS, NCEES, NCCTM conferences, and many other workshops.The school leadership roles that I have served in include: Athletic Director, PowerSchool trainer/contact person, School Improvement Team (SIT), department chair (math), grade level rep., leadership team, awards committee, NCWise Trainer for our school, create handbook and hold new teacher orientation at the school, held annual Webpage workshops for my colleagues, coaching (cheerleading, softball, and volleyball), and SACS lead for my components team of teachers.

I taught 8th grade English one year and 6th grade the other two years.
