After teaching 8th grade ELA at Lincoln County Middle school for the last five years, I am currently serving as a District-wide Instructional Coach for ELE Literacy Teachers. Recently, I have served full time in another middle school as Literacy Specialist, Higher Education as Middle school program director and literacy instructor at Unv of Ky, as a High School Literacy Specialist and in a K-5 setting and as an intermediate Literacy instructor. I have served Eastern Kentucky University on a part-time basis, as teacher of literacy for both undergrad and graduate teachers. Additionally I have served as President of the Kentucky Reading Association in recent years. I have a varied experience with literacy education at all levels either from my own education in the field or the teaching of others at various capacities within the field of literacy, I have recently completed my terminal degree at Eastern Kentucky University in Educational Leadership and Policy.Specialties: My Specialty is teaching literacy and observing students from 4-9 grades become as engaged and excited about learning and where it can take you as I am! I am very interested in 21st century literacies and their integration into existing literacy curriculum as well as project/problem based instruction for students.My research interests include : Self-regulated Learning, Project-based Learning, and Literacy in all areas.
