I currently work as a tutor and educational coach for Educational Connections, Inc. I love helping students in grades K-6 experience success in their school and personal lives. I also assist students of all ages with organization and study skills. My duties as a tutor include:  Preparing and implementing individual tutoring plans in the areas of reading, math, writing, and study skills for elementary students (K-6). Assisting students with organization, planning, behavior management, and study strategies.Preparing and implementing Wilson Reading Program lessons and supplemental activities for students with dyslexia and learning disabilities.Preparing appropriate activities for students with learning disabilities and ADHD to enhance lessons, including: games, art activities, music, movement, sensory activities, and use of technology. Using informal assessments and tutor observations to assess each students progress and modify instruction.Preparing reports on student progress.Establishing positive relationships with students, parents, and other tutors.Actively participating in training opportunities and sharing ideas and resources with other staff.Researching information on best practices and innovative ideas to aid in lesson development.I received the Tutor of the Month Award for July 2014 for providing outstanding tutoring to students with reading and learning disabilities.

Traditional and Digital Scrapbooking ConsultantAs a home based scrapbooking consultant I planned and coordinated adult and parent/child workshops on scrapbooking techniques and layouts. Created activities and lessons on helping children and adults use scrapbooking as a educational and self-esteem building tool. Ideas included: school achievement albums, hope and faith albums, story of my life books, ABC learning photo books, and photo book reports. Managed inventory, sales, marketing, and business records.

As a tutor I designed individualized programs which used each students strengths, interests, and learning style to help them succeed. I used varied multi-sensory, researched based activities to provided an encouraging, enjoyable, and respectful learning environmentI assisted my students with current assignments, study skills, and provided appropriate remediation to improve academic performance.

Managed a Clearinghouse of Information on Adult Education and Literacy issues and best practices. I wrote and edited newsletters and publications on literacy issues, legislation, research, and grant programs. I was awarded The Assistant Secretary's Award for Customer Service, 1997.
